A "media tracking company" which goes by the name of BigChampagne has come out with a remarkable and slightly unbelievable statistic. They claim that over one third of people (36.4% if you want to be Fancy Pants exact about it) have got the LimeWire software installed on their PCs.

This seems astronomically high, even if Limewire is by some way the most popular piece of sharing software out there. I just can't seem to grasp the scale of it, that a third of the world's PCs have this sharing program on, that is millions and millions of systems….

The data was collected by PC Pitstop, which is probably run by more tech savy users who would have sharing programs, which may well be the reason.
