BitTorrent Spyware Risk

The BitTorrent spyware risk is real and growing. Creators of the applications that produce pop-up ads on PC screens and track browsing habits have discovered BitTorrent as a preferred new distribution channel. Videos and music that hide adware and spyware are increasingly being offered for download on various BitTorrent websites.

Since BitTorrent has become one of the most widely used means of downloading files like movies or software, this makes it a tempting target. In one case, an episode of the fox TV show "Family Guy" was bundled with several pieces of known adware, and that kind of load is enough to crash a mid-range PC. Both spyware and adware hurt PC performance, because they use PC resources to run. It is suspected that online marketers have launched campaigns to get their software installed on more desktops using BitTorrent.

Its makeover time for Bit Torrent

Bit Torrent is undergoing a makeover. It recently announced a brand new application with social channels this week so as to reach to a wider audience.

Bit Torrent is known for its peer-to-peer technology that makes file sharing easier on the net. With this new application, anyone who is downloading a file will get a faster connection as the number of people downloading it will increase.

The videos in Bit Torrent have a better quality unlike websites such as YouTube. The new application, called Chrysalis, in Bit Torrent will encourage people to share their own content and will also allow commenting on videos.

The only drawback observed in Bit Torrent is its unsafe open system. There are no security settings that block the other people from seeing your content or comments.
The question is will Chrysalis open mainstream doors for Bit Torrent? Check out the new application and decide!

BitTorrent undergoes massive makeover

BitTorrent is changing. In a bid to become known outside of the hardcore-nerd and video-pirating communities, BitTorrent announced a brand-new app with "social channels" this week, which could introduce the tool to a more mainstream audience.
The secret sauce behind BitTorrent is its peer-to-peer technology, which eases the burden of sharing large files over the Internet. Typically, a download is only as fast as the upload speed where you file is, but BitTorrent changes all that. By sharing bandwidth among everyone else who's downloading (or has already downloaded) the file, the connection actually gets faster as more people download it.

That quality makes BitTorrent a natural for casual sharing of videos, and at a quality that's severely lacking in places like YouTube. The only thing the service needs to get past is the cumbersome process of finding torrents in various dark corners of the Web, then downloading them to a piece of client software that looks more at home on an IT desktop than a Facebook profile.
